Bolton Mansion traces its roots back to the 1680s. The original home was built soon after and expanded several times until the mid-1800s. It served as a working estate for centuries before changing hands among various owners, including the University of Pennsylvania and U.S. Steel. Eventually it was handed over to Bristol Township. Later it was recognized as a National Historic Landmark, with ongoing renovation efforts by the Bucks County Conservancy. Over the years it evolved from a grand residence to a civic office. It now stands as a testament to the region’s colonial past and still holds its original historic stature.
Witnesses describe a lady in a cloak bathed in soft light. Another woman walks the property, weeping as if seeking something. A common sighting of a small girl is seen on the second floor at a window. Some believe these two may be a lost mother and child. Others report a Confederate soldier who took his own life after a family feud. His sweetheart followed him in despair. A psychic’s photos suggest they still linger on the stairway. Investigators also mention the name Abigail.
