Prospect Place Estate, built in 1856 by abolitionist George Willison Adams, is located near Dresden, Ohio. The mansion, serving as part of the Underground Railroad, sheltered enslaved people seeking freedom. Its belvedere signaled safe passage. Adams’ strong anti-slavery stance traced back to his upbringing in Virginia, where he rejected his father’s plantation legacy. The estate, passed through the Adams family until the 1960s, faced decay and vandalism until preservation efforts began in the late 20th century.
The estate is reportedly haunted by a hanged bounty hunter seeking revenge, echoing stories passed down but unverified. Other tales include strange lights, unexplained noises, and apparitions linked to former residents, including George Adams and his descendants. Paranormal investigators have also recorded unexplained EMF spikes, EVPs, and mysterious lights in the barn and house.
