Originally erected in 1883, the residence, colloquially referred to as Franklin Castle, was commissioned by Hannes Tiedemann, a highly esteemed financier and one of the original founders of Union Banking & Savings Co. stationed in Cleveland. It is said that Tiedemann deliberately razed a former dwelling on the premises, as it tragically served as the inadvertent grave for four of his beloved offspring. Moreover, it should be noted that Tiedemann’s first spouse, Luisa, tragically met her untimely demise within the confines of Franklin Castle during the 1890s.
In approximately 1968, when the house was undergoing renovations, it became problematic. On one afternoon, the children from the castle’s owning family arrived, seeking cookies. They specifically requested an additional cookie for the sad girl residing upstairs. The Mother was confused and walked up the stairs, only to discover the absence of any other children. It is widely believed that this occurrence could be attributed to the ghostly presence of Emma, the Tiedemann girl, who met her unfortunate demise due to diabetes.
