1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa History
The Crescent Hotel & Spa in 1886 sits atop the Ozark Mountains in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. It was originally constructed as a retreat for the rich and famous back in 1886 when it was completed. It’s sophisticated architecture and state of the art facilities drew in wealthy visitors from all corners of the nation. However it’s popularity as a resort was brief. The establishment underwent a transformation into Crescent College and Conservatory for Young Women in 1908 and remained open until 1924. Over time the building was later revitalized and transformed back into its original state as a hotel.
Ghost Story
In the hotel’s Crystal Dining Room, many employees have encountered playful spirits in Victorian dress. One holiday season while the dining room was closed, the grand Christmas tree and packages underneath moved from one end of the room to the other. The next morning employees found the tree and packages moved with chairs circling and facing the newly placed holiday symbol.
